How to make your own zipper shirt
Posted On August 9, 2021
Zipper shirts are great for work and play.
You can use them for casual wear or for more formal occasions, and the material can be made with all kinds of different colors.
Here are the basics of how to make one.
Cut your zipper material.
This will make the shirt, and you’ll need to make a cut at the top of the fabric.
You want the zippers to stretch slightly to fit around your shirt.
Use a scissors to cut the fabric down to about 1 inch (2.5 centimeters).
Cut the front.
Cut one strip of zipper material in half.
Take the top half and cut out the back, and sew it to the back of the shirt.
You may need to trim the fabric a bit as it will stretch when the shirt is hung.
Sew the back.
Use your sewing machine to sew one side of the zipper to the front of the garment.
The seam will be on the back side of your shirt, so it will not show through the shirt as it would if it were on the front side.
Make sure that the back is finished at this point and that it has been cut to fit the shirt correctly.
Stitch the back together.
Take your two strips of zipper, sew them together, and trim the excess.
You will need to use your ruler to mark the seams.
Make certain that they are flush with each other.
This is your seam allowance.
Tie the back to the sides.
The shirt will fit with just a couple of seams and be snug enough to keep the buttons down, and secure with a few snaps.
This can be a bit tricky, so make sure that you don’t over-tie the shirt and over-tie it. 6.
Stuff the shirt in the zipper.
Stuff one side with zippers, then the other with zips, and fold it up so that the two sides are in the same position.
Fold the shirt over to make the back seam.
Fold in the zips and sew the back seams to the shirt using your seamstitch needle.
Sew on buttons.
Using a sewing machine, sew on two buttons on each side of each button strip.
If you have a regular button strip, then you can use it instead.
Secure the shirt with a zipper.
If the shirt has buttons on the bottom, you will want to secure the shirt by zipping up the zippings.
Make this seam secure by pinning the buttons to the zipper, and then attaching the zipper with a zip tie.
Sew a zipper sleeve.
You could do this by using a small sewing machine or a sewing thread.
Either way, you should make sure to make sure the zipper is securely attached to the fabric when you are stitching the sleeve.
